MAHA SHIVARATRI CELEBRATION

Wednesday feb 26th/ 6h30 – Thursday 27th/ 4h30

In the spirit of Tantrotsav, a yearly Tantra Festival offering workshops, rituals and performances, we are inviting you to a time of devotion and  communion.

Founded by Lakshman Gurukkal over 10years ago and held in his home  “Kalarigram” (Tamil Nadu, India), the festival starts several weeks before  and culminates on Maha Shivaratri. Each year a different aspect of the  Goddess presides over the festival, inspiring us seekers with Her Grace  and specific qualities. This year’s Wisdom Goddess is CHINNAMASTA,  Goddess of self sacrifice, transformation and power, symbolizing life, death, and rebirth. She represents Pralaya, or end of the world wherein the Absolute reabsorbs or swallows up all creation.

On Maha Shivaratri, The Great Night of Shiva, it is believed that  powerful cosmic energies especially conducive to spiritual growth and awakening descend on Earth. Keeping the spine upright enables the flow  of energy to be more easily channeled through the body, promoting  physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Shiva represents the stillness of  the cosmos and the dissolution of ignorance. Meditating and fasting on this night helps align with universal energies, and make us receptive to inner transformation.
